  17. You may have read earlier that I was making a compilation of the best A1200 
  18. demos I could find, so that the Silica shop in Sheffield could show something 
  19. other than a bland Workbench screen!  Now Escom here have an A1200 up and 
  20. running (to my great suprise), so I'll try to get them to use it as well.

  22. What relevance to you?  Well, I'm hoping that people will think it's good 
  23. enough to use in other shop on a (basic) A1200.  I could not find anything 
  24. else (on it's own) that would be good enough for that purpose.

  27. accelerator (GVP) can`t be turned off, and removing it is very scary.. :(

  30. The demo is 1 disk, and requires only a BASE A1200 (not even fast ram!), to 
  31. run.  It last just under 18 minutes :)) , and includes some useful information 
  32. about the Amiga in general.

  34. It is self booting, and will loop forever.  Oh, and all the demos have been 
  35. hand-picked to get the best possible on a base A1200.

  38. I am hoping that anyone with a base A1200 (or one with a switchable 
  39. accelerator), can tell me if any of the demos runs SLOWLY or not.  By SLOW, I 
  40. mean only a few (less than, say, 4 or so) frames a second.  Everything should 
  41. work atleast on a base A1200.

  43. Please state what section & demo runs slowly - i.e. "3rd Demo, blurred torus 
  44. section runs at 0.5 fps!".

  48. The disk is available (for testing/opinions at the moment), as:
  49. 1. One LhA archive, about 740k.
  50. 2. Two LhA archives, about 300k & 442k.
  51. 3. One DMS archive, about 755k.
  52. 4. Others if really required, but preferably not.

  54. PLEASE NOTE - a double/low density disk (as used by an A1200), formatted as PC 
  55. disk, will only hold 720k - so if you are going to take this from a pc to 
  56. Amiga via a floppy disk (and "PC0:" drive!), and don`t know how to split a 
  57. file, then option 2 is best (i.e. using 2 floppies).

  59. Obviously for the LhA archive, you will need to extract to a FFS disk with an 
  60. installed bootblock ("Install df0:" in Shell).
