- Hello every one! :^)
-
- OOPS! Sorry about the blank post :( - slip of the mouse-pointer.
-
- You may have read earlier that I was making a compilation of the best A1200
- demos I could find, so that the Silica shop in Sheffield could show something
- other than a bland Workbench screen! Now Escom here have an A1200 up and
- running (to my great suprise), so I'll try to get them to use it as well.
-
- What relevance to you? Well, I'm hoping that people will think it's good
- enough to use in other shop on a (basic) A1200. I could not find anything
- else (on it's own) that would be good enough for that purpose.
-
- #########ALSO, I need to confirm that it runs well on a base A1200 - my
- accelerator (GVP) can`t be turned off, and removing it is very scary.. :(
-
- **********
- The demo is 1 disk, and requires only a BASE A1200 (not even fast ram!), to
- run. It last just under 18 minutes :)) , and includes some useful information
- about the Amiga in general.
-
- It is self booting, and will loop forever. Oh, and all the demos have been
- hand-picked to get the best possible on a base A1200.
- **********
-
- I am hoping that anyone with a base A1200 (or one with a switchable
- accelerator), can tell me if any of the demos runs SLOWLY or not. By SLOW, I
- mean only a few (less than, say, 4 or so) frames a second. Everything should
- work atleast on a base A1200.
-
- Please state what section & demo runs slowly - i.e. "3rd Demo, blurred torus
- section runs at 0.5 fps!".
-
- ####### Helpful critisisms are also welcome.
-
- The disk is available (for testing/opinions at the moment), as:
- 1. One LhA archive, about 740k.
- 2. Two LhA archives, about 300k & 442k.
- 3. One DMS archive, about 755k.
- 4. Others if really required, but preferably not.
-
- PLEASE NOTE - a double/low density disk (as used by an A1200), formatted as PC
- disk, will only hold 720k - so if you are going to take this from a pc to
- Amiga via a floppy disk (and "PC0:" drive!), and don`t know how to split a
- file, then option 2 is best (i.e. using 2 floppies).
-
- Obviously for the LhA archive, you will need to extract to a FFS disk with an
- installed bootblock ("Install df0:" in Shell).
-
-
- Please send a SHORT request to my email address - I'm running close to my
- allowable 2Mb account limit (can go higher, but only for a while). I will
- send the file(s) by email (uuencoded).
-
-
-
- I really appreciate any tesing/opinions/helpful-critisisms that anyone can do!
- :) When I've finished doing any alterations that are suggested (&
- good/possible), I'm going to post it to the Aminet, and may also post it to
- people personally by email if requested (and not too many). With the Aminet,
- I'm going to have to learn how to FTP <gulp>...
-
- Thanks in advance.
-
- BTW: I note from a post I just read (here), this disk may have arrived at
- about the right time!
